📜 Axum’s History – Founded in the 1st Century AD

As one of Africa’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, Axum was the heart of the Aksumite Empire—a dominant force in trade from the 1st to 7th centuries AD. It remains a deeply spiritual site, believed by many to house the Ark of the Covenant at the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion.

Today, Axum stands as a living symbol of Ethiopia’s enduring cultural and historical legacy.
