Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, is known as the City of Eternal Spring for its mild climate and year-round blooms.
The city is a crossroads in southwest China, with parks, lakes, cultural districts, and connections to Southeast Asia. Yunnan’s diverse communities contribute to its rich cultural identity.
A friendship since 1986.
In 1986, Mayor Federico Peña signed the agreement making Kunming Denver’s eighth sister city.
The relationship promotes cultural diversity, educational exchange, civic connections, and global friendship. The Peacock Sculpture at the Denver Zoo, a gift symbolizing harmony and peace between the cities, is one expression of that connection.
